In July 2017 a team of youth and adults from Cape Coral First United Methodist will spend a week in Nicaragua ministering to families in the village of Piedra Rajada (Broken Rock). Piedra Rajada is a village of 33 families that our church has committed to sponsor. The majority of the community live in mud and straw homes, and are without running water and electricity. This year our church raised funds to install a well in the village so that families no longer have to walk 2 miles to fetch water. The well will be installed later this year.

Our church sponsorship assists in funding a community school and health clinic, as well as a feeding center for all the children in the community. While in Nicaragua the team will be running a Vacation Bible School, assisting in painting the community Center/school, and strengthening relationships with our sister village. Contact Adam Vernon for details.

At Cape Coral First we have discerned that our purpose is ‘To Make Disciples of Jesus for the Transformation of the World.’ To do that our Church Council, along with other church leaders, came together to put in place a vision plan for the next five years. This plan seeks to build from our strengths: worship, leadership, and small/study groups. It also seeks to transform our facilities so they are better equipped as venues for ministry as well as add new ways for our church to reach out into the community.
